BEIJING, China – China has strongly rejected new sanctions imposed by Britain on several Chinese companies, alleging their ties to Russia and their indirect support for Moscow’s war against Ukraine.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in an official statement that the British move lacks legal basis and constitutes blatant interference in China’s internal affairs. It affirmed that China will take necessary measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of its companies.
The statement added that London continues to pursue a policy of “double standards” and politicize economic and trade cooperation. It warned that such unilateral measures will only undermine international confidence in the global trading system.
These sanctions are part of a new package announced by the British government targeting entities from several countries. This is being done under the pretext of their support for the Russian war effort, which Beijing considers a flimsy justification for stifling emerging Chinese companies in international markets.
