Washington, DC – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Thursday that the Lebanese economy has shown relative resilience despite regional conflicts. The tourism sector has also contributed to the recovery. However, the IMF stressed that restoring growth requires comprehensive reforms.
IMF spokesperson Julie Kozak explained that discussions with the Lebanese authorities, who requested an IMF-supported program in March 2025, have focused on two main issues: first, restructuring the banking sector, and second, developing a medium-term fiscal strategy.
The IMF confirmed that it will continue to send expert teams to Beirut to monitor the implementation of the required reforms and support the country’s economic efforts. This is part of the Extended Fund Facility program, which aims to strengthen financial stability and stimulate economic growth in Lebanon.
