Washington, DC – US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant warned the Iranian regime that the United States is prepared to take strong action on both the military and financial fronts. He also affirmed that all US options against Tehran are “fully open.” In an interview with Fox News, Besant stated that the Trump administration is pursuing two parallel tracks: a military buildup on the ground and maximum economic leverage, with the goal of extracting the “best deal” from Iran. He emphasized that the Iranian regime “only understands the language of brute force.” He added that the US Department of Defense has already begun deploying military equipment to the region. Meanwhile, Washington continues to monitor the transfer of assets held abroad by senior Iranian officials. He affirmed that the US is prepared to take action to return these resources to the Iranian people if necessary.
Despite the escalation, Besant affirmed that Washington remains open to negotiations, but only on the condition that Iran accepts US terms. He clarified that the “maximum pressure” policy will continue on all fronts, including the nuclear program. The US Secretary of State stated, “Either Iran accepts a better deal that meets our demands, or it will face the consequences.” This escalation comes at a time of heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, amid ongoing international concerns about the expansion of Iran’s nuclear program.
