Washington, USA – The US Department of Commerce’s proposal to impose initial tariffs of 107% on imports from 13 major Italian companies,

starting in January 2026, threatens to make Italian pasta disappear from US markets.

The US trade decision, which is not yet final, targets companies

such as Barilla, La Mollizana, Garofalo, and Romo.

This comes after a long-term review to check for the possibility

of “market dumping” at prices lower than their normal value compared to American products.

tariffs ..Pasta prices doubled

Exporters warn that these tariffs could effectively prevent Italian companies

from selling their products in the United States.

This could lead to a doubling of pasta prices for consumers

or its disappearance from the markets.

Affected companies: We are reviewing our options

Italian companies affected by the decision to impose tariffs,

such as Romo and Barilla, said they are considering their options.

This includes raising prices or producing pasta locally to avoid

a direct impact on American consumers.

The Ministry of Commerce confirmed

that the decision is still under review.

The parties concerned have the opportunity

to submit objections before its final issuance.
