Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appreciated the Lebanese government’s decision to limit weapons to the state.

In a statement issued by his office on Monday, he saw the Lebanese state’s decision on weapons as an opportunity to restore the country’s sovereignty and build its institutions.

He also stressed that this Lebanese government decision to disarm Hezbollah until the end of 2025 is essential.

He said, “Israel appreciates Lebanon’s steps regarding arms control”.

Gradual reduction of the Israeli army

In addition, he announced that “Israel will take reciprocal steps if Lebanon is able to disarm the party.”

He added that Israeli forces will gradually reduce their presence in southern Lebanon if the authorities succeed in seizing weapons.

Netanyahu concluded his speech by considering that the time has come to work with the Lebanese side in a spirit of cooperation with the aim of disarming Hezbollah.

plan is ready

At the same time, a military source revealed that the army’s plan to hand over the party’s weapons is almost ready.

The source also explained that the army has not yet requested an extension of the plan and will present it at the government session on September 2.

These developments came as Hezbollah called for action in the street, rejecting the government’s decision to hand over weapons.

At the beginning of this August, the Lebanese government decided to limit weapons to the state.

The army was also tasked with developing a plan for this goal by the end of the month, with arms deliveries to be completed by the end of the year (2025).

Meanwhile, the United States presented a plan through its envoy to the region, Thomas Brack.

It outlined the most detailed steps yet to disarm Hezbollah, which rejects growing calls to surrender its weapons.
