Eswatini – Queen Ntombi Tfwala, Queen of Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), left the country on Sunday for the United Arab Emirates for routine medical checkups, official sources said.

The Queen’s trip abroad for medical checkups comes at a critical time, as the Kingdom of Eswatini faces a worsening crisis characterized by a severe and persistent shortage of essential medicines and medical supplies in its public hospitals.

Local reports indicate that dozens of citizens have died due to the crisis. This has sparked public anger and widespread concerns about the quality of healthcare available to the general population.

The Queen’s departure for medical care abroad once again highlights the stark disparity in healthcare available to the royal elite. It also highlights the dire state of public hospitals, which are suffering from a shortage of vital supplies.
