Dubai, United Arab Emirates – French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrow said that the door to negotiations is still open for Iran.
This is despite the entry into force of UN sanctions.
Barrow’s remarks came on the sidelines of his participation in the Munich Security Conference leaders’ meeting in AlUla.
Barrow stressed that activating the trigger mechanism does not mean closing the door to dialogue.
He announced that Paris and its partners are ready to engage in negotiations if Tehran provides serious guarantees.
Bazshkian: We are ready for dialogue
For his part.. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said, on the last day of his visit to New York and on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, that if the sanctions imposed on his country are lifted, the possibility of dialogue and negotiation exists.
Bazshkian stressed: “We have clearly declared that in any case we are not seeking to make nuclear weapons… They want to tell the world that we are moving towards nuclear weapons; this is completely wrong. We are ready for any kind of verification in this regard.”
As for whether Iran explicitly announces the cessation of any additional uranium enrichment and any steps towards manufacturing nuclear weapons in order to negotiate with the United States, Bazshkian responded by saying: “Certainly, this is what we will do”. We do not intend to move towards nuclear weapons, and when we say that, it means that we are ready to cooperate in accordance with all international frameworks to conduct verification.
