Revolutionary Guards: Missile range will be increased to any point "Tehran deems necessary"

Tehran, Iran – A senior commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said Wednesday that the missiles’ range will be increased to any point “that Tehran deems necessary”.

This was in response to what he said were Western demands to curb Iranian missiles.

Iranian officials said that demands by the United States and some European countries to impose restrictions on Iran’s missile capabilities are among the problems hindering the path to a nuclear agreement.

Western countries fear that Iran’s uranium enrichment program will lead to the production of materials to make a nuclear warhead.

These countries also express concern that Tehran may seek to develop a ballistic missile to carry this warhead.

While Tehran denies seeking to possess nuclear weapons.

The range of Iranian missiles reaches two thousand kilometers, which is the range that Iran has set for itself.

Officials have said in the past that this range is sufficient to protect the country “because it could cover the distance to Israel”.

Deputy inspection official at the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Military Headquarters, Muhammad Jaafar Asadi, told Fars Agency: “Our missiles will reach the range they need”.

He added that the strength and range of Iranian missiles made the war that Israel began last June last only 12 days.

Tehran responded at the time by firing hundreds of devastating missiles at Israel.
