Cairo, Egypt – Israeli reserve Major General Yitzhak Brick warned that the policies of Benjamin Netanyahu’s government are leading Israel toward a “horrific catastrophe.” He noted that the only way out of this fate is to stop the fighting. Furthermore, an agreement would need to be reached to return the prisoners.
Brik said the army is facing the risk of collapse due to the ongoing depletion of manpower and military capabilities. He emphasized that the killing of a number of Hamas leaders has not weakened the movement’s ability to continue its guerrilla warfare. He added that Israel has not succeeded in undermining Hamas’s fighting style. This situation requires an urgent reassessment of military policies. In addition, there must be a de-escalation to protect the state and the military establishment.
In the same context, the families of Israeli prisoners escalated their attacks on Netanyahu. They accused him of thwarting exchange deals and insulting mediators, describing him as the “angel of death.” The families warned that Netanyahu’s return from abroad without an agreement would be met with “a broad and unprecedented escalation.” They emphasized that his recent speech at the United Nations “broke their hearts, but not their hope.” They reiterated their commitment to the return of all the kidnapped.
