  • Tension at the United Nations

The letter urges a coordinated withdrawal from the General Assembly Hall, during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech scheduled for Friday afternoon.

According to what was revealed by the Israeli website “Wala”, the letter asked delegations to bring “as many employees as possible” to the hall. They should also attend the visitors’ exhibition since the morning hours.

And then the collective withdrawal as soon as the President of the General Assembly announced Netanyahu’s ascension to the podium.

According to the letter, the move aims to “send a clear message to Netanyahu and his government. It expresses that no one is prepared to be complicit in genocide, war crimes, and illegal occupation.”

This is while ensuring that the scene is filmed in front of a global audience.

How did Israel respond?

For his part, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, condemned the Palestinian move.

He also described it as a “cheap and pathetic offer”.

He added: “Israel’s voice will be heard clearly and loudly at the United Nations”. We will not remain silent and we will not allow supporters of terrorism to hide the truth.

Danon pointed out that the organizers asked some countries to fill their seats with young actors. This was to show a mass exit scene in front of the cameras.

Tension at the United Nations

Netanyahu’s speech comes at a time when the United Nations headquarters is witnessing increasing tension against the backdrop of the war in Gaza.

In addition to growing diplomatic efforts to recognize the Palestinian state.

If the withdrawal is carried out in a coordinated manner by multiple missions, it could turn into a large-scale symbolic protest. This would put Netanyahu’s speech to a public diplomatic test.
