Pyongyang, North Korea – North Korea said Monday that its status as a nuclear-weapon state has been “permanently” defined in the country’s law.

The United States condemned the repetition of its “old” claim about denuclearization of Pyongyang at an international meeting.

The Permanent Mission of North Korea to the United Nations Office and the International Organization in Vienna issued a press statement condemning the United States’ raising of the issue of North Korea’s nuclear weapons program at a recent session of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The statement read: “We strongly condemn and reject the provocative action of the United States to once again reveal its unwavering hostile intent against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and express our serious concern about the negative consequences thereof.”

Pyongyang stressed that Washington criticizes North Korea’s possession of nuclear weapons, describing it as “illegal”.

But it is (Washington) that is undermining the international nuclear non-proliferation regime through its extremist promotion of nuclear weapons.

North Korea noted that “its position as a nuclear state, which has been permanently defined in the supreme and fundamental law of the state, has become irreversible”.

She stressed that she “will comprehensively oppose and reject any attempt to change her current situation”.

The statement came as North Korea works to develop its nuclear and weapons programs.

While offers of dialogue by the United States and South Korea are ignored.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un previously visited a research institute that developed a high-thrust solid-fuel engine.

He said the new engine will be used for the next-generation Hwasong-20 intercontinental ballistic missile under development.
