Cairo, Egypt – The Grand Egyptian Museum announced, via its official website, the adoption of a mandatory code of conduct for all visitors, Egyptian and foreign,
with the aim of ensuring a safe and enjoyable visit and preserving the unique archaeological collections.
This announcement came just days after the museum opened to the public on November 4th.
This comes after observing a number of negative individual practices by some visitors.
The most notable example is some girls using makeup inside the exhibition
halls to take pictures in front of the ancient statues.
Guidelines to ensure the safety of exhibits
The code emphasizes the need to adhere to several key rules, including:
Touching the exhibits is prohibited: Artifacts and display cases must not be touched.
This excludes the sections designated for interactive tours.
Food and drinks: Eating or drinking anything inside the exhibition halls is prohibited.
With appropriate areas allocated for this inside and outside the museum.
Calmness and respect: Adhering to proper behavior and avoiding offensive or aggressive actions.
Respecting visitors and staff, especially during busy times.
Museum rules of conduct and photography
Photography is permitted: The use of cameras and mobile phones is Allows
inside the museum, while respecting the privacy of others.
Movement restrictions: Running, climbing exhibits or buildings, and closing entrance doors are strictly prohibited.
Children and smoking: Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied, and smoking is prohibited in all exhibition halls.
