Rabat, Morocco – Frenchman Patrice Carteron is close to taking over the technical leadership of the Moroccan Wydad team in the coming period, succeeding coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem.
Moroccan media outlets, most notably the website “Elbotola,” have reported that Wydad Casablanca’s management has reached an agreement with Patrice Carteron to coach the team until the end of the current season. This move comes as an attempt to restore stability and get the team back on track after a recent decline in results.
The report explained that the decision to make the change came after Wydad’s elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup, following their loss to Olympique Safi, which prompted the management to act quickly to salvage what they could.
Carteron has prior experience in Arab football, having previously coached Zamalek in two separate stints. He achieved success in winning several titles, most notably the Egyptian Premier League, the Egyptian Super Cup, and the CAF Super Cup, making him a suitable choice to lead Wydad in the upcoming period.
