The English team’s elimination came after Real Madrid’s 5-1 aggregate victory over the two legs, securing the Spanish team’s place in the quarter-finals.
The match began at a fast pace from both sides, with Real Madrid nearly opening the scoring early through Fede Valverde in the second minute. Manchester City responded with a dangerous attempt by Bernardo Silva, which was saved by Thibaut Courtois.
The 19th minute proved pivotal, as the referee awarded Real Madrid a penalty after consulting VAR, and showed Bernardo Silva a red card. Vinicius Junior successfully converted the penalty in the 22nd minute to give Real Madrid the lead.

In the dying moments, Vinicius Junior sealed the victory for Real Madrid by scoring the second goal in the 90+3 minute, confirming his team’s superiority and leading them to the quarter-finals.
Real Madrid will await the winner of the Bayern Munich vs. Atalanta match in the next round, as part of the Champions League quarter-final competition.
