Liverpool, England – Liverpool are preparing to face Galatasaray on Tuesday evening in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie. The English side will be looking to secure a positive result before the return leg.
The Liverpool Echo reported that Dutch coach Arne Sloat has decided to include Egyptian star Mohamed Salah in the starting lineup for the upcoming match. This contrasts with the previous encounter between the two teams in the group stage, during which Salah was on the bench.
Liverpool had lost that match against the Turkish team 1-0. However, the Dutch coach seems determined this time to start Salah.
Slot’s decision comes in light of the Egyptian star’s recent strong performances, particularly after his return from representing Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Salah has delivered impressive statistics since his return, scoring 4 goals and providing 4 assists in 11 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions.
The player also rediscovered his scoring touch in domestic competitions, netting against Wolverhampton in the Premier League. He then repeated the feat against the same team in their recent FA Cup encounter.
Liverpool had recently qualified for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after beating Wolverhampton 3-1.
