Modric said the referee blew his whistle before the ball crossed the line, explaining that play had already stopped. Therefore, the goal could not be counted.
He added that the team drew some motivation during the match from the presence of Sergio Ramos, his former teammate at Real Madrid. Ramos was in the stands to watch the game.
Modric concluded his remarks by emphasizing that Milan put in a strong performance in the first half and that the players worked incredibly hard to secure the victory.
