Madrid, Spain – Alexander Sørloth led his team Atlético Madrid to a resounding 4-1 victory over Club Brugge in the second leg of the Champions League play-off for the 2025/2026 season.

The Spanish team hosted their Belgian counterparts at their home ground in Madrid, after the first leg in Belgium ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw, allowing Los Rojiblancos to secure qualification with a 7-4 aggregate score.

Sorloth opened the scoring for the home side in the 23rd minute, before Joel Ordonez equalized for the visitors in the 36th minute. At the start of the second half, Jonny Cardoso restored Atletico’s lead in the 48th minute, giving his team a significant morale advantage.

In the final minutes, Sorloth established himself as the star of the match, after scoring his second personal goal in the 76th minute, then returned to complete the hat-trick in the 87th minute, confirming Madrid’s superiority and sending a strong message before the next round.

With this well-deserved victory, Atletico Madrid secured their place in the round of 16, where they await a potential match against either Liverpool or Tottenham, depending on the outcome of Friday’s draw.
