Abu Dhabi, UAE – Al Jazira achieved an important victory over their host Al Wahda with a score of 2-1, in the match that brought them together on Friday evening at Al Nahyan Stadium, as part of the 17th round of the ADNOC Pro League.
Al Jazira increased their points tally to 28, moving up to fourth place in the standings, while Al Wahda remained on 30 points in third place. The battle for the top spots intensifies as the championship enters its decisive stages.
The first half was balanced between the two teams, with play concentrated in the middle of the field and few dangerous opportunities on either goal, except for a notable attempt by Al-Jazira’s French player Nabil Fekir, which was successfully thwarted by Al-Wahda’s defense, ending the first half in a goalless draw.
In the second half, Al Jazira managed to translate their superiority into a goal through their defender Khalifa Al Hammadi in the 58th minute. Before Al Wahda returned to the game after they were awarded a penalty kick, from which Syrian Omar Khribin scored the equalizer in the 80th minute.

Al Wahda tried to come back in the remaining minutes, but Al Jazira’s defense managed to maintain their lead until the final whistle, allowing the team to continue its positive results and strengthen its position in the standings.
