Liverpool, England – Liverpool manager Arne Slott has confirmed that his team has not undergone significant changes compared to previous weeks. He also indicated that recent results reflect the team’s improvement despite some setbacks.
Liverpool are preparing to face Nottingham Forest next Sunday in the 27th round of the Premier League.
Slot said during the pre-match press conference: “Compared to the last few weeks, I don’t think much has changed. We’ve only lost twice in our last 19 games, and both defeats came in extra time, and we didn’t deserve to lose either of them”.
He added: “We don’t need yesterday’s results to realize how difficult it is to win the Premier League. What distinguishes the competition this season compared to what it was four, five or six years ago is the increased level of competition between all the teams”.
The Dutch coach explained that his team has shown significant improvement recently. He said: “We are in a much better position than we were three or four months ago. There are several reasons for this, most notably the clear improvement in our physical fitness, along with the considerable development in dealing with set pieces”.
Slot addressed the upcoming match against Nottingham Forest, confirming that the coaching staff is closely monitoring the opponent’s style. He said, “We’ll see if the new manager makes any changes to the lineup. It’s positive for us that they’re playing, especially since their manager has previous experience in the Premier League”.
Regarding the injured players, Slott revealed that Jeremy Frimpong will not be available to play this week. He also expressed hope that Frimpong would return next week if his recovery progresses as planned.
He also indicated that Wataru Endo would be out for an extended period, without specifying a return date. Meanwhile, he explained that Alexander Isak began individual training by running on the pitch for the first time this week, but will need more time before returning to competitive matches.
Slot concluded his remarks by saying: “Isaac may return to the team towards the end of March or the beginning of April, but that does not mean he is immediately ready to participate, as it will depend on how well he responds to the rehabilitation program and avoids any setbacks”.
