Rabat, Morocco – Wydad Athletic Club secured a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Tanzanian side Azam FC in their final group stage match of the CAF Confederation Cup, played on Sunday evening.
Wydad’s first goal came in the 64th minute after Azam player Pascal Massindo scored an own goal, before Walid Nassi secured the victory by adding the second goal in the 94th minute, confirming the Moroccan team’s superiority until the final moments of the match.
With this victory, Wydad finished the group stage at the top of their group standings with 15 points, qualifying for the quarter-finals with great confidence, while Congolese side Maniema joined them in the same round after finishing second with 12 points.
