Cairo, Egypt – Al Ahly finished their CAF Champions League group stage campaign top of Group B after a goalless draw against FAR Rabat at Cairo International Stadium in the final match of the group stage.
Al-Ahly imposed its control over the course of the first half, possessing the ball and creating several attacking attempts, but they lacked accuracy in the final touch.
The most dangerous chance came from Tunisian Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane. In the 13th minute, he unleashed a powerful shot from inside the penalty area, but it deflected off a defender and went wide. Then, in the 17th minute, he tried his luck again with another shot from outside the box, capitalizing on a defensive error, but the Moroccan goalkeeper made a fine save.
The pressure from the Reds continued until the end of the first half without any change in the score, amid limited attempts from the visitors that did not pose a real threat.
In the second half, Al Ahly continued their search for a goal to take the lead, and Ashraf Bencharki almost opened the scoring in the 70th minute with a shot from the left side that went over the crossbar.
The 87th minute also witnessed a clear opportunity after Bencherki sent a perfect cross, but Camoish dealt with it unsuccessfully, causing the ball to hit his face and go out near the goal.
With this result, Al Ahly raised their points tally to 10, securing first place in the group and qualifying for the quarterfinals. They were joined in the same round by FAR Rabat, who finished as runners-up.
