Liverpool, England – Liverpool manager Arne Slot spoke about his team’s upcoming match against Brighton in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Liverpool are scheduled to host Brighton on Saturday evening at Anfield, in a match where the Reds will seek to continue their journey in the tournament.
During the pre-match press conference, Slot stated that his team has three main priorities: competing for the FA Cup, securing qualification for next season’s Champions League, and striving to win the continental title this season.
The Dutch coach emphasized the importance of managing physical conditioning given the congested fixture schedule. He noted that the coaching staff is careful to make the right decisions to avoid injuries, especially with limited options in certain positions.
Slot explained that facing Brighton presents a significant challenge, asserting that the team’s results do not reflect their true potential. He added that he is still carefully considering his starting lineup options before the match.
Regarding the injury to Japanese player Wataru Endo, the Liverpool manager indicated that the player will be sidelined for a period. He confirmed that the coaching staff will assess the available replacements, with the possibility of giving some young players a chance.
Slot concluded his remarks by emphasizing the increasing importance of set pieces in modern football, explaining that they have become a decisive factor in deciding matches, whether in the Premier League or the Champions League.
