London, England – Liverpool manager Arne Sloat has objected to the refereeing decisions in his team’s match against Manchester City, which took place on Sunday evening, as part of the English Premier League competition.
Liverpool suffered a fatal defeat against Manchester City, with a score of 2-1, in the match that took place at Anfield, the home ground of the “Reds”.
Slot said in comments after the match, as reported by Sky Sports: “It was another great game between Liverpool and Manchester City, as we have come to expect over the past few years, but the result is very disappointing. A lot of things happened, and that’s normal in games like these”.
He added: “We are very disappointed not to have achieved a positive result. In the first half Manchester City were better in terms of possession, despite a lack of dangerous opportunities, while we were better in the second half”.
He continued: “We took the lead with a goal and didn’t give them any significant chances, but just before the end, a cross came in and changed direction to make it 1-1, and then we conceded another goal in extra time, which is something that has become a recurring problem for us”.
Regarding Dominic Szoboszlai’s dismissal, Slott commented: “I don’t think that was the most important moment of the match. If that’s the rule, we have to accept it, but the moment that deserves to be talked about was Mohamed Salah’s one-on-one with the goalkeeper”.
He added: “Anyone who has watched matches at this stadium over the past seven or eight years knows that this play would have ended with a goal for Salah, but the referee didn’t call anything despite him being pulled by Marc Guehi”.
Liverpool’s manager concluded his remarks by saying: “Once again we haven’t gotten what we deserve this season, and this is one of the games where the decisions didn’t go our way, but we need to improve our results”.
