Algeria, Algeria – Al Ahly of Egypt secured their qualification for the quarter-finals of the African Champions League, after a goalless draw with their host, JS Kabylie, in the match that took place on Saturday evening, as part of the fifth round of competitions.
Al Ahly met with JS Kabylie at the Hussein Ait Stadium, as part of the fifth round of the African Champions League.
The first half saw a relative advantage for the Algerian team, who posed a threat to Al-Ahly’s goal on more than one occasion, as Mohamed Hany saved a certain goal opportunity in the 16th minute after a decisive intervention against Ayman Mahious’s shot.
Mostafa Shobeir also shone in the 35th minute, after he came out at the right time and cleared a dangerous ball from in front of Ayman Mahyous, preserving Al-Ahly’s net.
Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet suffered an injury in the 45th minute, which forced him to leave the field, and Taher Mohamed Taher took his place.
In the second half, Al-Ahly’s performance improved and they controlled the ball for most of the time. Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan fired a powerful shot in the 76th minute, but it went over the crossbar.
Both teams continued their attempts during the final minutes, but neither succeeded in scoring, and the match ended in a goalless draw.
The draw raised Al Ahly’s tally to 9 points, allowing them to maintain their lead in the group standings, while JS Kabylie came in third place with 3 points.
