Berlin, Germany – Bayern Munich announced on Thursday that they have extended Serge Gnabry’s contract until the summer of 2028.
Gnabry’s contract with the Bavarian club was due to end at the end of the current season, before the two sides reached an agreement to extend the contract so that the player would remain with the team until June 30, 2028.
Bayern Munich stated in an official statement on its website that Gnabry has signed a new contract extending until the summer of 2028, confirming its commitment to retaining the player’s services in the coming period.
Gnabry, 30, has worn the Bayern Munich jersey since 2017. He has won many titles with the team, most notably the German league 6 times, in addition to winning the Champions League and the Club World Cup.
Sporting Director’s Comment
For his part, Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund expressed his delight at Gnabry’s contract renewal, noting his importance to the team.
Freund said: “Everyone can see how well Gnabry fits into our style of play. He is a versatile attacking player, with speed, skill and the ability to finish attacks”.
He added: “We are delighted that he will continue with Bayern Munich, as he is an important element within the team, both technically and in terms of his personality and professional conduct”.
Serge Gnabry’s first comment on renewing his contract
Gnabry expressed his happiness at renewing his contract with Bayern Munich and staying at the club for as long as possible.
Gnabry said: “I am excited to play for Bayern Munich for many more years. The talks have always been positive. When I started my career with Bayern, I never imagined that I would stay here for ten years until the end of this contract”.
He added: “My goal is to continue the journey. We are a cohesive team capable of achieving great things. The reasons for renewing my contract are the team, the coaches, the entire club, the fans, the city, and the environment. I feel at home at Bayern”.
