According to French journalist Santi Ona, Karim Benzema refused to play in Al-Ittihad’s match against Al-Fateh. This was due to his dissatisfaction with the contract renewal offer presented to him by the club’s management.
Ona explained that Benzema directly informed Al-Ittihad’s management of his unwillingness to play. This was in protest against the details of the new contract offered to him, a development that could complicate the club’s situation in the coming period.
Karim Benzema’s contract with Al-Ittihad ends at the end of the current season, which gives him the right to sign for any other club during the current winter transfer window, in preparation for leaving for free after the end of the season.
Al-Ittihad Jeddah occupies the sixth position in the Saudi League standings with 30 points, 15 points behind Al-Hilal, the leader with 45 points.
