Dubai, UAE – The Guinness Book of World Records announced a new cooperation with the Dubai Marathon.
It gives participants the opportunity to try to set official world records during the marathon race scheduled for February 1.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of its launch.
Under this collaboration, participants will be able to select and attempt Guinness World Records in specific categories.
It goes beyond traditional athletic performance, to include costume running, pair running, and awareness-raising challenges.
In addition to creative elements related to physical endurance and group participation, in accordance with the official standards approved by the encyclopedia.
Available scoring opportunities include achieving various records.
Among them is the fastest marathon run by a father and son together, or a mother and daughter together.
In addition to categories that include running using sports equipment, blindfolded, or using skis.
In a related context, the Dubai Marathon Organizing Committee announced that the 25th edition will record the highest participation rate in the history of the event since its launch.
She confirmed that she is about to announce, before the start of the race, the numbers of participants in the three main races:
It is an elite 42.195 km race, a mass 10 km race, and a family 4 km race.
The Guinness World Records team will monitor and document record-setting attempts.
Counselor Ahmed Al Kamali, General Coordinator of the Dubai World Marathon, explained that the new edition witnesses a high participation rate of runners with international times, both men and women.
About 50 runners participate in the men’s race, with an average time of approximately 2 hours, 4 minutes and 50 seconds.
The number of female runners participating in the women’s race is approximately 35, with an average time ranging between two hours and 17 minutes and two hours and 21 minutes.
