Dakar, Senegal – Abdoulaye Fall, president of the Senegalese Football Federation, has attacked Moroccan football authorities, sharply criticizing their management of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, following his country’s victory over Morocco in the final.
The Senegalese national team won the championship title after defeating their Moroccan counterparts 1-0 in the final match, which took place on Sunday evening.
The website Foot Mercato quoted the president of the Senegalese Football Federation as saying that Morocco wields considerable influence within the Confederation of African Football (CAF). He explained that “Rabat exerts control over CAF and dictates many decisions.”
Fall added that the Moroccan side did not expect a competitor capable of denying them the title, noting that Senegal was the only country that stood in the way of this ambition during the tournament.
The president of the Senegalese Football Federation revealed organizational difficulties faced by his national team before the final match. He confirmed that, prior to qualifying and before traveling to Rabat, he had requested details about the team’s hotel. However, this information was only disclosed after their qualification for the final had been secured.
He explained that the team’s accommodation was located in the city center, amidst a noisy atmosphere. He considered these conditions unsuitable for a team aiming to compete at the highest level.
He also noted that the Senegalese national team had been asked to hold their training sessions at the main camp in the Mohammed VI Football Complex, a request he declined. He added, “The complex boasts a very modern and advanced infrastructure; we probably don’t even have a similar facility in Senegal.”
Fall concluded his remarks by emphasizing that training at this location would have left the team completely exposed technically, stressing that this could put the team at risk by revealing the most minute preparatory details before the final.
