Real Madrid defeats Villarreal 2-0 and temporarily tops the Spanish league standings (video)

Madrid, Spain – Real Madrid defeated Villarreal 2-0 in their La Liga match on Saturday evening.

Real Madrid visited Villarreal at the La Ceramica stadium, as part of the 21st round of the Spanish League.

Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring for Real Madrid in the 47th minute, with a powerful shot from inside the penalty area that found the back of the net.

Mbappe returned again in the 90+4 minute, to score the second goal for Real Madrid from a penalty kick that he successfully executed.

Villarreal then tried to reduce the deficit and score an equalizer, but to no avail, and the match ended with Real Madrid winning 2-0.

With that result, Real Madrid temporarily tops the Spanish league standings with 51 points, while Villarreal’s tally remains at 41 points in fourth place.
