Rabat, Morocco – Hossam Hassan, the coach of the Egyptian national team, spoke about the Pharaohs’ victory over Ivory Coast and their qualification for the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Egypt secured their place in the semi-finals after defeating Ivory Coast 3-2 in their quarter-final match of the continental tournament.
Hossam Hassan said in statements after the match during the press conference: “We are very happy with the victory and qualification and making the Egyptian people happy”.
He added, “I thank the players for this great performance and for qualifying for the semi-finals after defeating a strong team like Ivory Coast. Beating the defending champion is a very important achievement”.
He continued, “We approach every match as if it were a championship final. I have great players who are the best, and we always work on preparing a suitable plan for each match”.
He continued, saying, “I thank the Moroccan fans, especially in Agadir, for their support, and I congratulate the Moroccan national team”.
He added, “The organization of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco is absolutely fantastic, and we are ready to play in any stadium within Morocco”.
The Egyptian national team coach confirmed, “We faced a team that is considered one of the strongest teams in Africa, and we respect all competitors, and we will start preparing now for the Senegal match.”
Hossam Hassan: We respect everyone and Mohamed Salah is a great leader
Regarding Mohamed Salah’s role, Hossam Hassan said, “Mohamed Salah is a great player and an influential leader. All the players fought to win and raise their country’s name high. And the Egyptian national team has a respectable national technical staff headed by Ibrahim Hassan”.
He added, “We have a clear system in place within the camp, and I thank everyone for their commitment, whether it’s the coaching staff or the players. We have an ideal generation that deserves support”.
He concluded his remarks by saying, “I hope Mohamed Salah wins the Africa Cup of Nations title. He is a great player, the players trust him, and there is great understanding between everyone within the national team”.
Egypt is scheduled to meet Senegal next Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.
