Rabat, Morocco – Mohamed Salah, captain of the Egyptian national football team, commented on the Pharaohs’ victory over South Africa. He also commented on their qualification for the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Egypt secured a 1-0 victory over South Africa, with Mohamed Salah scoring the winning goal. This happened in the second round of the group stage of the tournament.
Mohamed Salah said in comments to beIN SPORTS after the match: “I am happy with the result after playing a difficult match that was full of pressure”.
He added, “We were able to maintain the lead for a long time after the sending-off. I think that was good planning for the course of the match. The most important thing for us was to get the 3 points”.
The Egyptian captain continued, “The atmosphere was wonderful, the stadium was almost full, and I am proud and happy to play here in Morocco. I was also pleased by the presence of the Egyptian fans. The support of the Moroccan fans was present as well, which was reflected in the special atmosphere inside the stands”.
With this victory, Egypt increased their points tally to 6, securing their place at the top of the group. They officially qualified for the Round of 16. South Africa’s points remained at 3, while Angola and Zimbabwe each earned one point.
