Cairo, Egypt – Chelsea’s first-team football coach Enzo Maresca commented on the news that he would take over as coach of Manchester City, succeeding Pep Guardiola.
Newspaper reports in recent days have indicated that Maresca is close to succeeding Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
Mariska responded to this news during today’s press conference: “This doesn’t affect me. I know perfectly well that it’s just speculation. I don’t have time for such things.”
He added, “I have a contract here, at Chelsea, until 2029. My focus is solely on this club, and I am proud to be here. A week ago in Italy, the situation was similar with Juventus. I am not interested in this matter.”
He continued, “It’s important to understand why this news is spreading, but it’s just speculation. Our next match against Newcastle is very important and difficult.”
Chelsea manager Jurgen Klopp said: “Liam Delap and Isogo are recovering well and could return for the Aston Villa game on December 27.”
Chelsea are preparing to face Newcastle United tomorrow, Saturday, in the 17th round of the English Premier League.
Chelsea are currently fourth in the Premier League table with 28 points, while Newcastle are 12th with 22 points.
