Cairo, Egypt – Al Ain were held to a 1-1 draw by Al Jazira in their UAE Pro League match on Saturday.
Al Jazira visited Al Ain at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, in the final match of the eighth round of the ADNOC Pro League.
The match was intense from both sides from the first minutes, with attempts to score an early goal.
In the 20th minute, Al Ain took the lead with the first goal, scored by Matias Palacios with a long-range shot that nestled into the right side of Al Jazira goalkeeper Ali Khaseif’s net.
The goal ignited Al-Jazira’s enthusiasm and they continued to attack fiercely, until they succeeded in scoring the equalizer in the 36th minute, through Bono de Oliveira.
In the final minutes of the first half, the Spanish referee awarded a penalty kick to Al Jazira, but it was missed by Egyptian Ibrahim Adel, after it was saved by Al Ain goalkeeper Khalid Eisa.
Al Jazira also scored a goal through Simon Banza, but the video technology quickly cancelled the goal due to a foul on Banza himself.
The match remained a back-and-forth affair between the two teams throughout the second half, but neither of them was able to score a new goal, ending in a positive draw with a score of (1-1).
