Cairo, Egypt – Mohamed Sabry, former Zamalek and Egyptian national team star and presenter on the club’s channel, died on Friday morning, November 14, 2025, at the age of 51, following a horrific car accident in the Fifth Settlement area east of Cairo. The news sent shockwaves through the Egyptian sports community, particularly among Zamalek fans who mourned their former star with profound sadness.
Details of the incident
Initial reports indicate that Sabri lost control of his car while driving at excessive speed on a side road in New Cairo’s Fifth Settlement, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and crash into the wall of a building under construction. He died instantly without being taken to the hospital.

The Public Prosecution Office began investigating the accident immediately after it occurred, and initial investigations confirmed that excessive speed was the main cause, with no other factors clearly identified so far.
Mohamed Sabri’s career
Mohamed Sabry was born on April 7, 1974, in the city of Bilbeis in the Sharqia Governorate. He was nicknamed “The Cannon” thanks to his powerful left-footed shots. He began his career with Zamalek in 1993 under the leadership of the late Mahmoud El-Gohary, and his exceptional performances made him one of the club’s most prominent stars in the 1990s.
