Manchester City secured a resounding 4-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League match on Wednesday evening.
Manchester City hosted Dortmund at the Etihad Stadium, in the fourth round of the Champions League.
Manchester City started the match strongly, with Doku unleashing a powerful shot in the sixth minute. The ball nearly found the back of the net, but it went just wide of the post.
Dortmund’s goalkeeper also made a save from a powerful shot by Phil Foden in the 10th minute. Savinho followed up with a shot over the crossbar.
Manchester City opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. A shot from Phil Foden found the right corner of Borussia Dortmund’s goal.
Erling Haaland added Manchester City’s second goal in the 29th minute. After receiving a ground pass from Jeremy Doku, he converted it with a rocket shot into Dortmund’s net.
In the 57th minute, Foden unleashed another shot from the edge of the penalty area. This shot found the back of the net, leaving the Dortmund goalkeeper with no chance.
Dortmund managed to score a consolation goal in the 72nd minute. This goal was scored by Waldemar Anton. He took advantage of Ryerson’s cross, turning the ball with one touch into Donnarumma’s net.
In the 87th minute, Egyptian international Omar Marmoush came on as a substitute for Norwegian Erling Haaland. However, he neither created nor scored any goals.
Ryan Cherki completed City’s four-goal haul in the 90+1 minute. By doing so, he snatched three valuable points for his team in their Champions League campaign.
The win lifted Manchester City to 10 points. This placed them fourth in the table, while Dortmund remained on 7 points in 14th place.
