Cairo, Egypt – Al-Ittihad Saudi team managed to achieve a resounding victory over their Emirati guest, Sharjah, with three goals to nil, in the match that brought them together on Tuesday evening, as part of the competitions of the AFC Champions League Elite Championship 2025-2026.

Al-Ittihad met with Sharjah of the UAE at Al-Inma Stadium, as part of the fourth round of the AFC Champions League for Elite.

Dutchman Steven Bergwijn opened the scoring for Al-Ittihad in the eighth minute. The goal came after he capitalized on a perfect cross from Muhannad Al-Shanqiti inside the penalty area, powerfully heading it into the net to give his team the lead.

Shortly after the Tigers’ goal, Sharjah responded with an equalizer in the 11th minute through Caio Lucas. He found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but the referee disallowed the goal for offside.

Al-Ittihad threatened the visitors’ goal again in the 13th minute when Karim Benzema unleashed a powerful shot from inside the penalty area, but it went just wide of the post.

Sharjah then had a dangerous opportunity in the 20th minute through Caio, who shot from the edge of the area, but his effort went narrowly wide before the referee raised his flag for offside.

The first half remained evenly contested, but no further goals were scored, ending with Al-Ittihad leading 1-0.

In the second half, Al-Ittihad continued their pressure, with Karim Benzema doubling the score with a second goal in the 66th minute. The goal came after he took advantage of a perfect cross from Moussa Diaby inside the penalty area, and shot it directly with one touch into the net.

Roger Fernandez completed Al-Ittihad’s scoring in the 94th minute, confidently slotting home a pinpoint cross from Faisal Al-Ghamdi inside the box.
