Cairo, Egypt – Liverpool manager Arne Sloat praised Egyptian Mohamed Salah’s performance against Aston Villa in yesterday’s English Premier League match.
Mohamed Salah led his team, Liverpool, to a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa. The match took place on Saturday evening at Anfield Stadium, as part of the tenth round of the Premier League.
Slot said in post-match comments: “It’s amazing to score 250 goals for one club. Even if I score 250 goals in total, it will be incredible.”
He added: “Mohamed Salah delivered a fantastic performance. He not only contributed offensively, but also played a major role in supporting the team defensively. I was impressed with his performance, and it’s wonderful that he reached 250 goals with Liverpool.”
He continued: “The fans’ support means a lot. It happened when the score was 0-0, not when you were leading, not when you were at the top of the standings. It happened when you were in a difficult situation for the club, for the team, and for me.”
He stressed: “The support that the players have received, and that I have received, is what makes this club special. They never forget what you were a part of, and they help you in difficult times.”
He continued: “We weren’t winning matches, we were losing them. The fans felt that the players needed some support, and that’s what you get from these fans.”
Mohamed Salah scored Liverpool’s first goal in first-half stoppage time, bringing his tally to four goals in the Premier League this season.
He also equaled Wayne Rooney’s record for the most goals contributed to by a single club in Premier League history (276).
Furthermore, he became only the third player to score 250 goals for Liverpool, after Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285).
