Tehran, Iran – Former Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, in recent remarks published Tuesday, called for strengthening the country’s “military, intelligence, political, and diplomatic power,”

Warning that failure to do so could lead to the outbreak of a new war, Rouhani stressed the importance of strengthening “national power” as a key factor in avoiding conflict.

Rouhani referred to the statements of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei following the 12-day war with Israel,

In which he described the atmosphere as “no war, no peace,” stressing the possibility of achieving this situation through practical steps.

The fragility of the current balance between Tehran and Tel Aviv

In the same context, Khamenei previously stressed that the situation based on the principle of “no war, no peace” is a “harmful and dangerous atmosphere.”

This is an indication of the fragility of the current balance between Tehran and Tel Aviv.

Rouhani’s statements came amid reports and analyses indicating the possibility of renewed military confrontations between Iran and Israel.

The Indian Institute for Defence Research and Analysis described the ceasefire in the recent war as “fragile and shaky.”

comprehensive military attack

Rouhani also spoke about previous US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities,

Explaining that the United States had been planning to strike the Natanz nuclear facility 22 years ago, and that it was preparing for a comprehensive military attack.

Rouhani added that the “wind of peace” that blew after the 12-day war suddenly stopped,

Expressing concern that the parties concerned are returning to their old hostile behaviour.

Mossad agents arrested

Rouhani also defended the arrest of “spies,” stating that capturing Mossad agents inside the country disrupts the enemy’s plans and forces it to reconsider its strategy.

He stressed the importance of “dealing” with the West as an alternative between fighting or surrender.

“We have to find another way, which is to find a way to deal,” he said.

Over the past months, Rouhani has repeatedly called for reducing tensions with the United States and starting negotiations with the West.

Stressing the need to improve relations with Europe and neighboring countries.

Rouhani accused of corruption

However, the Iranian president’s statements are facing domestic controversy, as Kamran Ghazanfari, a member of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, commented on previous complaints against Rouhani,

Stressing that if the charges against him, including “corruption on earth,” are proven, the penalty could reach the death penalty.

In this context, Rouhani’s calls for peace and negotiation remain the focus of attention in Iran and the region.

This comes amid continuing tensions that threaten a return to armed conflict.
