Tehran, Iran – In an analytical assessment reflecting the extent of the deadlock in diplomatic channels between Washington and Tehran, Iranian political analyst Ali Hossein Ghazizadeh warned that the failure of the Islamabad talks presents the region with grim scenarios. He argued that the current outcome reinforces the conviction that a “military solution” is the only remaining option.
Blocked paths and confirmation of the Israeli vision
Qazizadeh, speaking on the “X” platform, commented on the stalled negotiations led by US Vice President J.D. Vance. He noted that this round, despite its meticulous details, clearly revealed the impossibility of reaching a political settlement. Qazizadeh stated, “These negotiations demonstrated to someone like Vance—who doesn’t see a military solution as desirable—the reason for the deadlock in diplomatic channels.” He added sharply that negotiations with Tehran “will yield nothing.” He explained that the United States might find itself compelled to revert to the logic of war. Qazizadeh continued, “This is what the Israelis have been saying for years, and the Americans don’t understand it,” implying that Iran’s rigid stance has turned diplomacy into a “vicious cycle.”
Washington departs with a “final proposal” and nuclear concerns
This analysis coincided with US Vice President J.D. Vance’s announcement Sunday morning that the Islamabad talks had ended without an agreement. Vance confirmed that the US delegation had left Pakistan, leaving behind a “specific framework” representing Washington’s final offer. He explained that the real obstacle was not technical, especially since Iran’s enrichment facilities had already been dismantled. Rather, it lay in the absence of a “long-term Iranian commitment” not to pursue nuclear weapons in the future. He noted that Washington, despite its hopes, had not yet received any substantial guarantees confirming Tehran’s permanent abandonment of its nuclear ambitions. These developments present the US administration with a strategic dilemma. While Vance remains committed to peaceful solutions, observers like Qazizadeh believe that the failure of Washington’s “final offer” to convince Tehran could signify the end of the era of negotiations. Furthermore, it could mark the beginning of a phase of open confrontation.
