Washington, DC – Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States affirmed that Lebanon is fully covered by the regional ceasefire agreement, responding to recent statements by US and Israeli officials regarding ongoing tensions on the Lebanese border.
The Ambassador noted that his country’s position focuses on maintaining regional stability and preventing any military escalation. Such escalation could lead to widespread casualties or threaten international peace. He added that Pakistan is closely monitoring the implementation of the agreement on the ground and calls on all parties to strictly adhere to what has been agreed upon. He also urged all parties to refrain from any unilateral actions that could undermine peace efforts.
He explained that Pakistan is working with its international partners to strengthen monitoring and oversight mechanisms in Lebanon to ensure all parties abide by the ceasefire. This aims to protect civilians and public and private property. He emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy are the best way to resolve conflicts and achieve stability in the region.
The Ambassador also stressed that Pakistan will continue to engage with the United States and other relevant countries to provide political and diplomatic support. This is aimed at ensuring that Lebanon remains a safe and secure area, protected from any future hostilities. He stressed the need for unified international efforts to maintain regional peace. He also emphasized the importance of avoiding any new military adventures.
