Baghdad, Iraq – Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi and French President Emmanuel Macron, in a phone call, emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts to find peaceful solutions to regional conflicts. This step reflects both sides’ commitment to strengthening regional stability and supporting political and diplomatic dialogue.
The call came in the context of discussing recent developments in the region, including security and political tensions. Both sides stressed the need to rely on peaceful means to resolve disputes, avoiding military escalation, in order to preserve the interests and stability of the region’s people.
Al-Kadhimi expressed his appreciation for France’s role in supporting Iraqi institutions and enhancing security and stability. He also affirmed Baghdad’s commitment to working with its international partners to develop mechanisms for joint cooperation, particularly in humanitarian, economic, and developmental areas.
For his part, Macron emphasized France’s commitment to contributing to peace efforts, noting the importance of coordination with Baghdad in addressing regional challenges. He also pointed to the search for viable diplomatic solutions that preserve the region’s security and stability.
Observers believe this contact reflects a dual interest: internally, Iraq’s desire to strengthen its role as a stabilizing force in the region; and externally, France’s desire to highlight its role as a key player in Middle Eastern affairs by supporting peaceful solutions and presenting itself as a neutral mediator capable of bringing together conflicting parties.
This emphasis on peaceful solutions comes at a sensitive time, as regional crises intersect with escalating economic and political pressures. Thus, strengthening dialogue and international understandings becomes key to preventing any potential escalation that could threaten the region’s stability.
