Moscow, Russia – Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that his country is ready to resume supplying Europe with oil and gas as soon as it receives the “green light.”
He also affirmed that Russia remains capable of meeting the European continent’s energy needs,
despite political tensions and Western sanctions imposed on Moscow.
A key partner in the energy market
Putin stated, in remarks carried by Russian media, that Russia’s energy supply infrastructure remains fully operational.
He also indicated that pipelines and export systems could resume pumping oil and gas to European markets at any time, provided the political will exists.
The Russian president clarified that his country has not abandoned its role as a key player in the global energy market.
He further noted that Europe has relied for many years on Russian supplies to meet a significant portion of its natural gas and oil needs.
Growing challenges in securing energy
He added that the current crisis in global energy markets reflects the extent of the political
and economic complexities that have impacted international trade.
He also affirmed that Moscow is open to resuming economic cooperation with European countries if existing political differences are overcome.
Putin’s remarks come at a time when Europe is facing increasing challenges in securing energy supplies,
particularly given price volatility in global markets and rising demand for gas and oil
due to escalating geopolitical tensions in several regions of the world.
Observers believe that the Russian president’s statement reflects Moscow’s attempt to use energy
as a tool for political and economic leverage.
This occurs against the backdrop of the ongoing geopolitical conflict between Russia and the West,
and its repercussions on global energy markets.
