Tehran, Iran – Iran’s Revolutionary Guard announced that it launched a missile attack targeting Tel Aviv using ten Khaibar-e Shekan ballistic missiles. It confirmed that the strike was part of a series of military operations targeting what it described as “vital and strategic centers inside Israel.”
The latest missiles in the Iranian arsenal
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), in an official statement carried by Iranian media, explained that the missiles were launched with high precision toward targets inside Tel Aviv. It also noted that Israeli air defense systems attempted to intercept the missiles but were unable to prevent some from reaching their targets.
The statement indicated that the Khaibar Shekan missiles are among the most advanced ballistic missiles in the Iranian arsenal, characterized by their high maneuverability and accuracy. Furthermore, they are capable of penetrating advanced air defense systems.
Unprecedented military escalation
This announcement comes at a time of unprecedented military escalation between Iran and Israel. The two sides have exchanged airstrikes and missile attacks in recent days, leading to international fears that the confrontation could widen into a broader regional conflict.
Meanwhile, Israeli authorities have yet to issue a detailed statement regarding the extent of the damage or casualties resulting from the attack. Israeli media reported hearing loud explosions in the vicinity of Tel Aviv, coinciding with the sounding of sirens in several areas.
Observers believe that the use of the Khaibar Shakir missile in the attack represents a qualitative escalation in the military confrontation, especially since this type of missile is specifically designed to strike distant targets with high precision. This reflects a shift in the nature of the confrontation between the two sides, from limited strikes to more extensive and complex operations.
