Tehran, Iran – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi told his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, on Wednesday that Iran’s missile attacks targeted only American interests. He also emphasized that Qatar was not targeted in any way.
The Qatari side responded
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement denying any targeting of Qatari territory. However, it confirmed that the situation on the ground showed that some civilian and residential areas in Qatar were affected by the attacks. It categorically rejected the Iranian claims.
The Qatari minister indicated that his country “will confront any aggression that infringes upon its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, or national interests.” He also affirmed that any attack on Qatar “will not go unanswered, in accordance with its legitimate right to self-defense.”
