Tel Aviv, Israel – The Israeli military said the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei sends a clear message reflecting Israel’s commitment to the security of its citizens. It asserted that the operation was part of a “preemptive defense” against what it described as ongoing Iranian threats. An Israeli military spokesperson explained in an official statement that Khamenei was targeted in a “precise and wide-ranging operation” carried out by the Israeli Air Force. The statement also indicated that the operation was based on highly accurate and sensitive military intelligence. It further stated that the operation took place while Khamenei was at his central command compound in the heart of Tehran, and that several senior officials were with him at the time.
The Israeli military described Khamenei as “the head of an Iranian octopus whose tentacles have spread across the Middle East to Israel’s borders.” This was a reference to Tehran’s support for armed groups in the region. The statement added that the Iranian leadership was, in its words, responsible for “planning and directing operations targeting Israel and its interests, directly and indirectly, over the past years.” The military emphasized that the assassination of Khamenei demonstrates the IDF’s commitment to its citizens. It also stressed that Israel “will target any party that seeks to harm it, anywhere and at any time.” The statement further indicated that the Israeli security establishment is on high alert in anticipation of any potential retaliatory actions. This announcement comes amid an unprecedented escalation of regional tensions, with international concerns about the widening scope of the confrontation and its repercussions for the security and stability of the region.
