Washington, DC – US President Donald Trump announced that Russia is seriously seeking an agreement with Ukraine, stressing that it is time for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to act and take practical steps before the opportunity to resolve the conflict is lost.
In a media interview, Trump said, “Russia wants a deal, and Zelensky has to act now… Opportunities don’t last forever.” He added that the continuation of the conflict without effective negotiations could exacerbate the crisis and increase the human and military costs for both sides.
The president continued that the US and Western role should be supportive in facilitating understandings. He also emphasized that the pressure on Ukraine is not a threat, but rather a call for decisive action that safeguards its interests and prevents further losses.
Trump’s remarks come amid intense diplomatic activity on the international stage, as various parties seek a negotiated path that could de-escalate the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Meanwhile, the front lines in Eastern Europe remain a theater of intense military operations.
Analysts believe Trump’s statements indicate a possible shift in strategies by both sides, especially given the ongoing war and the deteriorating economic situation in both countries, making the need for a swift agreement more urgent than ever.
It is estimated that the recent political messages reflect Russia’s desire to reach a negotiated solution that safeguards its interests. Conversely, Ukraine faces increasing pressure, both on the ground and diplomatically, to take concrete steps toward de-escalation or negotiations.
