Gaza, Palestine – The foreign ministers of eight key Arab and Islamic countries (Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan) issued a joint statement strongly condemning Israel’s repeated violations of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. These violations have resulted in over a thousand Palestinian casualties, including deaths and injuries. The ministers emphasized that these actions constitute a dangerous escalation aimed at inflaming tensions and undermining regional and international efforts to establish calm. They also warned that these actions come at a critical juncture as the parties seek to implement the second phase of the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2803.
The statement indicated that the breach of the truce poses a direct threat to the political process and humanitarian recovery in the Gaza Strip. This violation would disrupt efforts to create the conditions conducive to a transition to security and reconstruction. The ministers called on all parties to fully uphold their responsibilities to ensure the success of the second phase of the peace plan. They also urged them to refrain from any actions that undermine early recovery efforts. The ministers reaffirmed the Arab and international principles regarding the Palestinian cause. They stressed that a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace can only be achieved by enabling the Palestinian people to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination. Their independent state must also be established in accordance with international law, the Arab Peace Initiative, and relevant UN resolutions.
