Havana, Cuba – Cuba has accused the United States of acting in a “criminal” manner that threatens global peace and security.
This comes amid ongoing US pressure and sanctions against Havana, as well as accusations related to security cooperation and energy issues.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez stated in a post on the “X” platform on Sunday that his country has not received any money for security services provided to any other nation.
He thus denied allegations circulating about such financial returns. Rodríguez asserted that these claims are “baseless.”
These accusations are part of Washington’s attempts to justify its escalating policies toward Cuba.
Violation of international law
The Cuban Foreign Minister affirmed his country’s sovereign right to import fuel from any country that wishes to export it.
He emphasized that Cuba is not obligated to obtain approval from any external party in its trade or energy relations.
He explained that his country has recently relied on fuel imports from friendly nations, most notably Venezuela and Mexico, due to the economic sanctions imposed upon it.
Rodríguez criticized what he described as the “hostile policy” of the United States.
He asserted that this policy targets the world, not just Cuba, and contributes to instability.
This is achieved through unilateral sanctions and coercive measures that violate international law and the UN Charter.
Tools for political pressure
He emphasized that these policies directly harm populations and exacerbate economic and humanitarian crises.
And he noted that Washington is attempting to use energy and security services as tools of political pressure.
He called on the international community to reject these practices and to work towards respecting the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs.
The Cuban Foreign Minister’s remarks come at a time of escalating tensions in relations between Havana and Washington.
The dispute continues over US sanctions, international cooperation, and Cuba’s stances on regional and international issues.
This situation reflects the stalemate in bilateral relations between the two countries.
