Kabul, Afghanistan – The National Resistance Council for the Salvation of Afghanistan has called on the Iranian authorities to deal responsibly with the popular protests. It also called for a response to the legitimate demands of citizens through civil and peaceful channels. Additionally, it affirmed its monitoring of developments in Iran and its respect for the right to peaceful demonstration.

Highlights
  • Finding realistic solutions
  • worsening crises

In a statement issued today, the Council said it was closely monitoring the popular movements and protests in Iran. It stressed that the right of citizens to peacefully express their demands is a fundamental right that must be respected and protected. It expressed its hope that the right conditions would be created to address the protesters’ demands through constructive dialogue. This constructive approach would help avoid escalating tensions and maintain social stability.

Finding realistic solutions

The statement affirmed that the Shura Council expects the Islamic Republic of Iran to adopt a wise and responsible approach. This approach must be based on direct communication with the protesters and listening to their legitimate demands. Furthermore, it should focus on working to find realistic solutions that meet the aspirations of citizens. The measures taken must be far from any steps that could complicate the situation or increase tensions.

At the same time, the Afghan National Resistance Council emphasized its categorical rejection of any foreign interference. It also rejects attempts at “foreign incitement or exploitation” of sensitive social conditions or legitimate popular demands. It considers such interference unacceptable and inadmissible under any circumstances.

worsening crises

The statement pointed out that the bitter experiences of several countries, particularly the suffering of the Afghan people as a result of foreign interference, are clear evidence. This evidence shows that this type of interference does not bring stability or fulfill the aspirations of the people. Rather, it leads to deepening crises, weakening national sovereignty, and undermining the social fabric.

The Shura concluded its statement by emphasizing that addressing popular demands through peaceful means and responsible dialogue is the best way to maintain stability. It called for the voice of reason and wisdom to prevail, in order to guarantee the protection of citizens’ rights. This approach would prevent the situation from sliding into further tension and instability.
