Caracas, Venezuela – Opposition leader Maria Machado announced Tuesday that she plans to return to Venezuela soon. She affirmed that her political mission will not be limited to activism within the country, but will focus on confronting what she called the “current regime’s policies.”
In her remarks, Machado targeted Vice President Delcy Rodriguez, describing her interference in opposition affairs and pressure on civil society organizations as a “direct threat to the future of democracy.” She added that her strategy aims to reorganize the opposition and will also work to raise public awareness of the current political and economic situation.
These statements come amid ongoing tensions within Venezuela, where the country faces severe economic challenges and escalating anti-government protests, despite international calls for dialogue between the various factions.
Machado affirmed that she would coordinate with international partners to support human rights and fundamental freedoms, emphasizing that her return would not be a mere symbolic gesture but rather part of a strategic plan for peaceful political change.
